Old NTL email has been hacked

Hi team,

I have an old ntlworld account that has been hacked by a fraudster, and they are actively using it to gain access to multiple online accounts in my name. I have called Virgin Media asking them to close it, however they have told me they are unable to help as I am no longer a customer (since approx 9 years ago), and can therefore not pass security. They offered to send a letter to my address, however I have since moved. I have tried to access and change the password on the email account, but it has not been possible. All I want is for the email account to be immediately closed. How can this be done, please?
