Ntlworld Email account and archiving emails unable to authenicate with mailstore

Previously used Mailstore without issue. However my Father in Law has moved provider and is looking to back up email in bulk. When trying mailstore IMAP-SSL I get an error of authentication failed. Has something changed? Account credentials are fine as webmail is working fine. 

  • Is he using an app password (generated from within 'My Virgin Media' for the mailbox in question) when he configures the Mailstore settings?

      Hi for anyone else with the problem goslow is correct so thanks for that. For my FL case had to create a different email address on the my virgin login. This needs to be confirmed and slight confusing after changing on the authentication email when you log back in make sure you use the old credentials. You can then log in with the new one. From there I went to account security or something along those lines and scroll down the page to set up app password and generate a password. This password is used for mailstore to authenticate against the ntlworld account.  Thanks again to goslow
