ntlworld account hacked

Hi, just like many others on this forum my old ntl email has been hacked and I'm receiving the usual threats and demands for money. It appears they have somehow used my email address to carry out their threats. Please can anyone help and advise with closing down this account? I am no longer a virgin media customer and cannot access my settings. I have numerous ntlworld email addresses dating back over 20 years, and would like them closed asap.

      Hi, I'm another person in needs. 

      My ntlworld email account still working and I have access to, but I been unable to marge with new virgin media email account. Sooner or later Im going to closure it  anyway. 

      Bigger problem has my wife , her email account ( probably in the last couple days )   has been compromise and take over. She has not longer access to it but email is still active. Please could you help us closure her ntlworld email account.

    Looks like this is a common issue as my wife also has this problem... Online/Telephone "help" have been anything but helpful! Email was supposedly "closed" but still is receiving emails. obviously would like to get this sorted!

    This is the same as my problem and the threats are not at all nice, so how do I close my ntl world address after leaving 5 years ago
