Multi email problem

Jeez this is painful

Got several emails set up on my virgin account.

I used to be able to access them all of them via My Virgin Media but I can’t see how to do that now.

It would seem from reading abit I have to log into each one individually but I have no idea how and do not know passwords.

The were setup on outlook so I never needed the web option but outlook has gone t**s up so I cannot access anything.

I can still get on to My Virgin Media and access the one still linked to that but is the other 5 or 6 I can’t. A couple are hardly used but one is the wifes so if her outlook fails she is stuffed.

I’ve tried password reset but it changes the password to My Virginmedia not the email.

How the hell do I get access to them?

Ta

  • Hi keith0066 thanks for your post although we're sorry to hear of the concerns you've raised here.

For additional email accounts, they all now require their own individual log ins, this is a fairly lengthy process but can you please view this thread and try to set up an app password for each individual account?

Alternatively this is also the step:

Log into each individual email address as if it was its own My Virgin Media account.

Click on Account settings > Virgin Media Mail settings > scroll down to the App password section and click the Generate new App password button.

You should get a pop up message asking you to verify your email address and you'll need to use a 3rd party email address to continue. You'll be sent a one time passcode to enter on the next page to verify it's you. Once verified you'll then be given an app password which will look something similar to: mail-horse-yellow-panda and you should note this down.

To get things working on an email client or app again, you will need to enter the new mail password in the settings. This will allow your emails to load again. In some cases, you may need to remove the email account from the mail client or app completely and re-set it up as fresh. If this is the case for you, please ensure you use your VM email address as the username and the newly generated app password.

These changes have been put in place as Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is now required. Just as a side note, when logging in to My VM, you will need to use the third party email address as the username and your original My VM password.

Give that a try and let us know how you get on.

  • Unless i'm missunderstanding something both of those solutions reply on knowing the password to access the email account in question or being able to change it.

Clearly there was a password as it had to be used in outlook and outlook worked perfectly until recently.

But i now need a password to use in another third party app (Thunderbird) or log onto VM online email.

I can't log on the My Virgin using the email in question as i don't have a password and if i try password change it ends up in a loop saying information is missing.

    Please help.
