Lost VirginMedia E Mail Account Access

Hi - I can no longer access my virgin email account.  I did recently leave VM but emails were still being sent / received until a few days ago.   Is there someone that can help with this request to regain access, even if it is only for a temporary period of time?

Many thanks

VM's broadband contract specifies that 90 days after you close your broadband account VM can /will delete any email accounts linked to it.

So if it has been more than 90 days since you left VM then there is definitely no hope of getting any help from VM  to regain access to your email account.

If you are still within that time period then the Forum Team (VM staff) are best placed to help you. One of the team will contact you via this forum thread, hopefully that should be tomorrow.

  • Hi @Coenoby, I have similarly held an ntlworld account since the 1990s. I left VM last year but until recently was still able to use my ntlworld email. I've never had any notice from VM that my email account would be closed and in fact, I can still use it on an old tablet. However, my Outlook mail client has just decided it wants me to reenter the password. I have no idea what it is. Are you saying that there is no way I can get a password reset to at least save my emails before they are deleted?

    Thanks

The T&C’s are 90 days until deletion of the mailbox.  If it is deleted I believe VM do not keep backups.

        Settling in

As I said, the email account has not yet been deleted. In fact, until I started this conversation last night I could still connect to it and read and send email. Now, by some odd chance, that has changed. I'm being prompted to enter a password I no longer know and I can still see the emails though my connection is IMAP.

Has my email been hijacked or are VM about to delete it? I would like to be certain it has all been deleted rather than just left hanging.

"Are you saying that there is no way I can get a password reset "

If you are no longer a VM customer then VM will not reset the password  for you. If you don't know the existing password then your only option is to try the "Forgotten password" route using this link

      https://www.virginmedia.com/identity/forgotten-details/password

All I can say is that most people in your situation find that does not work for them. Sorry about that.

If you knew the existing password and simply wanted to change it then you could do that using the My Virgin Media Account for that email account.

There are 'password' recovery programs available on the internet for your email.

It might not help though -- Being asked to enter your password can mean that your email account is in the process of being deleted ::  Save what you can NOW| !!!

  • There's something wider going on . I'm a current subscriber & mines been deleted too

dorsetandy if you can still access by "the old tablet", it would be best to try a get a backup of your mail if possible.  As noted by many, many email threads here, the VM mail server is only going one way.  I would encourage any VM email users to migrate sooner rather than later.
