Locked out of account again

My wife's VM account (I am the main email) was fine but Friday evening when she tried to log in she received the message, 'email and/or password is incorrect'. This is false. She has not been able to access her emails on PC or phone. If she changes her password she won't be able to access her email?! This happened to her a few years ago and I was directed to create a 2nd email to solve this. Fyi we are Virgin.net a/c but we are VM broadband. Please help as she is getting frustrated.

The only answer to these continuing problems is to move your contacts over to a different email provider.

VM have clearly lost interest in maintaining their email service, and you need to move while you can still get access to it.

  • Hi fuego đź‘‹.

Thanks for reaching out to us, sorry to hear that you are having issues with a mailbox. When accessing emails on your phone or a third party mailbox you will also need to maintain activity with our actual web based mailbox or it can be locked for inactivity or security reasons. We advise to maintain activity by logging into our web based mailbox at least once a month.

So that we can get your access back we would need to bring you in for a private message, please look out for the envelope on the top right of your web browser or if you are using a mobile device, it will be located under your profile icon.

    Thanks.

      Sorry, what, since when?

What’s the logic behind this? Surely it doesn’t matter how the mailbox is accessed, just that it is accessed and hence is in use. What do you mean by “with our actual web based mailbox”, there is only one mailbox; web access, POP3, IMAP these are just protocols to access and read the information in it.

“We advise to maintain activity by logging into our web based mailbox at least once a month.”

You’ve just made that up haven’t you, possibly in an attempt to deflect the post above from jpeg1 who, in my view rightly says that VM have no interest in maintaining a functional email system.

Now surely what you should be considering is this, the OP states that this is a virgin.net address so fairly long in the tooth, is it still properly associated with their current VM broadband account?
