Email Not Accessible on iPhone

Yesterday my email on my iPhone started saying the password was incorrect and will not load new emails.  I've deleted the account but now it will not add again onto my iPhone.  The password is correct for the VM O2 sign in but I get a message saying Password Incorrect - Enter the password for the IMAP account "Virginmedia"  I've tried the password I used previously for my email and that does not work either.  I've not changed either password so I have no idea why it stopped working

    The app password is generated by VM and is in the form of word-word-word-word

    It is generated as below;

    Sign into the My Virgin media account for the email concerned with your VMO2ID
    Select Account Settings
    Select Identity & Security Settings
    Select Manage your products
    Select Manage email app password
    Click on the blue button 'Get New Password'
