Email hacked

Hi, I am not a Virgin media customer anymore but still have an email account (old blueyonder account) that has been hacked and I would like to close down immediately. I still used the email for user name on some accounts which they have now accessed. I would like to shut it down asap.

    I would make sure that you go through the process of updating the username on those online accounts to your new email account before the Blueyonder account is deleted. 

    Once the Blueyonder account gets deleted you are likely to have problems in the future if you need to reset the password for any of these online accounts or change the username to a new email account. 

    Those actions often involve the organisation sending a verification email to the linked email account they currently hold for you - so without access to the Blueyonder account  you will be unable to proceed.

    One of the Forum Team (VM staff) can arrange to get the Blueyonder account deleted for you. One of the team will contact you via this forum thread hopefully tomorrow.

  • Hi, I appreciate that and I am going through the process of changing over accounts just now -  what I can, however I cannot access my email account myself just now as the hacker has taken over it and locked me out. That is why I would like to delete it now to avoid them doing anything with my accounts that use the email as a login.

      Ok Thanks for clarifying that. Sorry to hear you're in that situation.

       I only passed on that advice because it's not unusual for ex VM customers to post here begging to regain access to a closed VM email account. It's just not possible to do that :(

      X (Twitter) users who have their X account linked to an old VM email often post here in desperation.

      Hopefully the Forum Team will contact you tomorrow and get the deletion process started.
