Email hacked

Email account hacked - I have an old email that has not been used but have account associated with it. I have tried out reaching out to support call to Virginmedia and they said they cannot help me out, I have asked for them to delete my email account. They said they cannot help as I have left them. I had an account with them for 10 years. 

Can anyone at Virginmedia assist me. I have had multiple online accounts compromised because of the email hack/attack
