Email Access after Account Closure

Hi All,

My VM broadband contract is due to expire shortly, after which I’m due to be moving house  in the following months to a non-VM area.  I had a call from VM today and explained this, and asked if I could keep my current mail address.  I was told I could and there would be no charge for this.  I tried to clarify this by specifically asking that, after my contract had finished, I would still be able to send and receive emails from my current address.  I was told yes.  My question is, is this correct?  Also, will I have to change any settings in Outlook to do this from another broadband provider?

oh, and I don’t suppose VM offer a rolling month by month contract until I’ve moved?

Many thanks for any guidance 🙂

Unfortunately that's not correct. The email account is supposed to be closed 90 days after your broadband. In practice it can be longer than that, but don't rely on that.

Anonymous Actually VM contracts don't finish at the end of a minimum term period they simply roll on as a month by month contract, however the monthly charge is likely to go up with the end of discounts that applied during the minimum term.  You contract document and monthly bill should state what the charge will be going forward.

As for the email access you should get 90 days access once you cease to be a VM broadband customer.

Hi @jpeg1 and @Graham_A - thank you very much for the replies.  I thought it sounded too good to be true but 90 days is better than an immediate switch off of my mail account.  I’ll try and call VM to see how much it’ll cost to go on a monthly contract, I’m on a ridiculously cheap deal at the moment.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

Anonymous As I said you will automatically be moved onto a rolling 30 day contract when your current minimum term ends.
