Compromised Emails

I have a blueyonder email account which I have had for many years. A few years ago the account was compromised  resulting in Virgin temporily blocking the account. The account was receiving a huge number of spam and phishing emails. I started a new email address and changed all my passwords. Consequently this seems no longer to be a problem since I changed my email address although I still receive a dozen or so dodgy emails each week on the old blueyonder address.

Is it possible to close down this old "blueyonder" account? The only emails I receive on this blueyonder address are from Virgin themselves (bills, account changes, etc).

If the BY mailbox is your primary account (linked to billing etc.) I don't think that can be deleted while you still have VM broadband.

I think you can, however, go through the VM security changes to provide a third party email address to run alongside the old BY email address.

Hey sturmanson02, thank you for reaching out and we are sorry to hear about your email issue.

Did the above help or are you still needing some support on this?

No thanks. The reply was what I expected. I have started a new email address and use the original one to receive emails and billing from VM. Needless to say I have also changed my passwords.
