Change registered email

I've been this way before, but got cold feet!

VM once warned us that if we changed the email that we has initially used to register our VM account, either it was not allowed, or we would lose everything.

I see from other posts that it might be possible to do that now (VM seems to have changed their policy on this).

If I do change that original email, can anyone tell me if there are any pitfalls, or should I not do it.

I've bought my own domain and want to use my new email to log in and manage my VM account. I could either change my original one or just delete it, but, I think then I would not have any access.

I'd be grateful for any advice please.

Cheers

Cliff

  • EddyFiss You can read all about changing the log in username to a third party email address here: https://www.virginmedia.com/dpb/help/change-my-virgin-media-email-address

This is something that VM now require when you want to change the account password or generate an app password for use with email clients.

Changing the username does change the underlying VM email address which will continue to operate.  If it is the primary email address then you still cannot delete it.

      Thanks Graham

I think you meant to say the underlying mail does not get changed (I often miss out the NOT when my fingers don't go fast enough).

Anyway, I've read through the link you gave and I see now that VM can cope with a change, so I can go for it now.

I don't mind if the old blueyonder stays there and is "hidden", because I don't use it - I created a VM sub account to get over that. As an aside, I don't care now if I do lose the VM mail altogether, as long as all the other services stay working.

Thank you for your help on this.

      Cheers
