Virgin media lack of communication

0800 this morning,30th, virgin media contractors blocked the end of our driveway to excavate for a cable.

No advance notice communication or to let us know they were going to block our access out of our house at all.

looked to communicate. Numbers all require Virgin account so trying this way

This is a community forum. You should speak to to the contractors or the council who will have issued a street works permit.

If this job is micro-trenching for fibre they'll be done before the end of the day.

Do you have a legal dropped kerb for access from the road?  If you don't they may feel entitled to do anything that might block your access.

That's good to hear. The contractors should of course have notified you, but if it's simply a cable trench they may be finished within the day.

If you are looking for a fast reply here you are unlikely to get one. Staff take several days to respond to posts, & would then have to get in touch with the relevant contractor for the area.

Works like these require local authority permits, so the contractors should either have it displayed or should provide you with it if asked. The road contract works are nothing to do with OFCOM, who just deal with service provision. You need to deal with the contractor or the council that issued the permit to work on the service strip outside your property.
