Virgin Are Definitely throttling Usenet. 26/09/25

A few days ago I was happily downloading at 100MB\s. 2160P content downloaded in minutes. Now I am getting a constant download speed of 10.2 - 10.3MB\s from SABNzbd. 

I pay for the Gigabit Fibre service. If I try running a second download client such as Grabit, Newsbin Pro or Newshostings client the speed drops on the other client. I have checked normal Internet speed and this is showing at 98 -99MB\s download speed. All subscriptions are active but the only thing affected is Usenet, even with VPN. So Virgin are DEFINITELY THROTTLING. It appears to be a 10% throttle. My contract is up in December so adios virgin.

I will find a provider that gives freedom to do what I want, with no restrictions and give me the service I pay for.

    Update. qBittorrent also throttled at 10% of maximum speed and causes Usenet speed to drop. Our freedoms are being eroded.

    Every month a new Just joined poster appears claiming VPN connections or Torrents or Game downloads being throttled.

    The outcome is typically as many as a dozen excited posts before discovering the problem is the remote server managing bandwidth or an in the home issue like a faulty network cable or use of an old 10/100 power line adaptors / switch etc ... 

    ... and then like magic the thread will go silent.

    Isn't one of the points of a VPN that Virgin can't see which sites you are connecting to, so, even if they wanted to, couldn't throttle on a site by site basis?

    VM do NOT throttle any VPN connections. I have two ISP connections, VM and a 1G/1G fibre connection. So I can easily compare a VPN connection on both links. I also run, at times, a VPN server rather than a client and this is also not throttled.
