WiFi Pods making things worse

My hub is in the kitchen, my sitting room is the next room. If I am sat on the sofa and connected to the hub I get 260mbps. We added a Pod into the sitting room to boost the signal for the office. The pod is 2ft away from the sofa, there are no obstructions. Now that I'm connected to the pod (still in the sitting room, I haven't moved) I'm only getting 10mbps and the pod says it has a "fair" connection. It's literally 2ft away from where I was getting almost full speed connection and well within what I would consider an acceptable range for the hub to have. What am I doing wrong?

Check the VM Pod to see if it is running hotter than normal i.e. showing signs of failing.

I'd check which frequency band you are receiving directly from the Hub, and which from the pod.

The pod is an extender, not a booster. You need to put it midway between the Hub and the room where the signal is weak.

It is. The room it is placed in has almost perfect speed so should be communicating with the hub fine, however it is not.
