Wi-Fi connection drops out in the next room

Hi, I've been experiencing problems with my Wi-Fi coverage in my flat. The signal is fine in my kitchen where the router is, but as soon as I go into another room (around 5m away) the signal drops out completely for some reason. I have a Hitron Chita router supplied by my landlord (since I pay for a bills included rent package with broadband) and having visited the online service page I can see a number of Critical errors in the DOCSIS logs which say 'No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out;' so I don't know if this is related. I have started a bqm test this evening so hopefully that will provide some more information but if anyone could offer some help or advice that would be great. I assume I need an engineer to come and take a look...

A network able + a Wi-Fi Router ( used in Access Point mode ) would give you Wi-Fi & Ethernet sockets, but remember cables must not be a trip hazard.

I suggested the TP-LINK PLAs because in a landlord property damage to the walls from securing additional wiring can be a problem on the exit survey.

  • Hi, first of all thanks for all of your replies! I'm slightly concerned about using a wireless booster because the wifi completely drops out the other side of the kitchen wall which I believe could be because of the type of wall or something. Thinking a booster which could connect via a long ethernet cable might be a better option?

  • Hi, walls and surrounding area all can affect signal in other rooms. Get yourself a TP LINK router extender they are quite cheap on Amazon that'll sort your problem

This is the one I use, works perfect and its a simple Plug and Play it uses the mains socket to provide the single in other rooms.

A don't get why you have a Hitron router what the landlord is expecting high level of support from VM and for wifi at extra cost to you? stupid.

you need to put the hub in modem mode and look for a better wifi router
