Virgin Media Hub 5

Hello, I upgraded my broadband package to Volt M500 Broadband back in December 2024 and asked if I would also receive the new Hub 5 to go with it, since my Hub 3 is a few years old now and needs to be rebooted every so often to keep the connection stable. The person on the phone said I can have one, but they don't have one to send out at the moment, so a note will be put on my account, so when one becomes available I should be notified, but it's been a few months now, and I haven't heard anything. Is there a way to get an update on this? I have a few Wi-Fi 6-compatible devices now, so I'd like to be able to take advantage of them.

Focus far more on how many Wi-Fi 4 IoTs you have,
expect these to be very problematic to quite inoperable with a VM Hub5.

  • Don't hold your breath as Virgin may say that you will get  a Hub 5 but they also committed to upgrade Gig1 customers to Hub 5 when Gig1 was rolled out some years back, so anything that VM say is not always believable. VM may tell you will get a Hub 5 etc. but  could also say the Hub3 is ok for your package. VM do not pay attention to their own statements/commitments!  VM are still behind the drag curve compared to equipment supplied by some BB providers .

If you want wifi 6 you can get your own router and put hub in modem mode

The Hub 3 is still on the list for M500 tier, so it's not the Hub causing dropouts per se.  Post the power levels and network log for comment.
