Upgrade the house bit to full fibre

As far as I understand, when Virgin installed the service four years ago, I’ve been on the same system ever since.

I recently rejoined, and it’s still using the same internal wiring kit not the new fibre ONT style that BT uses. So I’m guessing it’s still a hybrid setup with Virgin in Northern Ireland, where you deal with the UK team for the account.

My question is: can you request to be upgraded in the house to the full fibre setup? I’m currently on the M500 Volt package after switching back from BT.

The existing wires inside house still use coax to connect to virgins modem still not just an Ethernet connection like bts full fibre.

Just I know it’s better for response times

No customers have been migrated from HFC to XGS-PON and better response times are pure speculation, on this forum there are endless gripes about VM's XGS-PON especially from gamesters.

Do also be aware of the current limitations of XGS-PON, the supplied Hub 5x does not support modem mode ( & it never will ), the TV solution is streaming only, no recording.

Be careful what you wish for !

In 18 to 24 months when your deeply discounted VM new joiner offer expires and the price rockets, hope EE will welcome you back with another new customer offer.

By the end of 2026 we also should be able operate on VM RFoG or EE FTTP.
