Smart switches

Trying to set up smart switches, apparently I need 2.4g to initially set up the switches and my Hub3 is 2.4g and 5.0g and I need to temporarily turn off the 5.0g. Tried to go into the setup screen using the http//192.168.0.1 but it wouldnt take the password on the base of the router. As you can probably tell I'm new at this. Any help appreciated, thanks in advance,

    Hi Dennis44,

You need the settings password as indicated in the screenshot below.  (If you have changed that yourself then you need to perform a pinhole reset of the hub by keeping the reset button pressed in for around a minute)

  • Hi newappolo, thanks for your reply, I haven't changed any of those, I tried the settings p/word which is a set of numbers and I also tried the WiFi p/word. I'll try the reset button again.

Remember the tried & trusted process is :

    1)  Press & hold RESET for 60 seconds
    2) Leave the VM Hub Powered ON to revert to the factory settings / original passwords.

Dennis44  You should not need to turn off the 5.0g in order to set up the switches.  They will just look for the 2.4g signal and use that.  I have set up smart switches with a Hub3 without tinkering with the WiFi bands.

  • Thanks for all replies, apparently I wasn't holding the reset in long enough, the hub has updated, took a while, I'll have another go at fitting the switches

  • I did say I was new at this, the smart switches are no good if like me you don't have the white wire, I only have  what was once the standard blue, brown and earth. The switch needs the white wire to give the switch power to able it to be seen by the WiFi. I'm not very good at the description but hopefully you get the gist.
