Port Forwarding

I've spent the last couple of days trying to get port forwarding to work. From this forum I gather that the hub 5 I have does not support port forwarding (despite it appearing in the settings), as such I am using it in modem mode with a tp link router. No matter what I try, port checker sites always return the port I am trying to open as closed. I have tried various ports with multiple devices as the listening device, going as far as to disable firewalls on the device and the router and can still not seem to get a port to open properly. When I reached out to VM support (I don't think they have ever been helpful btw) they just said we do not support helping with port forwarding. I did read that some ISPs can block all port forwarding but could not find an example where this has ever been the case. I am not trying to forward one of the reserved ports virgin media list.

Any ideas? Please do feel free to double check I am port forwarding correctly but from what I gather from online articles on the matter, setting it up is fairly trivial.

If you have your own router and use hub in modem mode and it works whats the problem? or if thats the case you can't just forward any port if its TCP and the site to show its open unless you have a app and firewall for that port.

As you are using modem mode, the Hub will have no bearing on what you are doing.  All the port forwarding will be managed by the TP-Link router.
