I just hope you used either 1, 6 or 11. Other channels may look free, but they are not due to the bandwidth of 20Mhz which causes overlaps.

Thanks jbbrennand but still changes channel.

Tudor, when i change channel to one that looks free i get around 650 download on phone wifi in same room, but when it moves chanel by itself i usualy get about 400 to 450, lower chanels (ie 40 or less) have at least 6 to 10 people using them changes depending on day, thatscwhy i moved it up slightly as it looks like noone usingvthem.

Make sure to have Wi-Fi Channel Optimisation Disabled aka Smart Wi-Fi,
and also the VM Connect app uninstalled from all devices in your home ( closed is not enough ).

If you are trying to use 5 GHz channels in the DFS range you may be getting pushed off them. The channels above 48 can be used, but the hub has to scan periodically for non-Wi-Fi users that share the band (some military users & also weather radar). If these signals are detected the hub has to by regulations vacate the channel immediately, hence putting you back on a channel below the band. I am lucky in my area that non Wi-Fi use of the DFS channels is very intermittent, & I can go months at a time without being chucked off.
Personally I have given up most use of 2.4Ghz. There are 6 to 10 hubs on each of the 3 non overlapping channels, plus phone hotspots & the like that seem to be preset to channel 10 & newer hubs that are now bonding channels in the band & hogging the resources of everyone else.

I put it on 60 and the box comes up with DFS ,didnt know what it was,but i had it 108 for months with no probs but now others are there so thats why i tried 60 ,il leave it as is and see how we go on 40.

      Client62,thanks but Optimisation is  Disabled.

Thanks all for input il see how things go.

I don’t use the VM hubs, never have, but not all 5Ghz channels have the same maximum power output, so I have no idea if VM makes any use of this. My setup uses the DFS channels, but if an Access Point is moved off of one when it detects DFS it is moved back to the original channel at 02:00 until another DFS event happens.    I use channels 100, 116, 132 and 149 and channel 100 get a DFS event about once a week, but has always reverted back the next day. Their EIRP (power) is between 23 dBm and 30 dBm although I doubt you can change these on a VM hub.
