Newbie help
Hi guys.
just joined Virgin broadband & the forum thank you for having me.
ok so I’m usually pretty good with IT & in my last property I installed a wired broadband network so my 2 children have the best speeds with their gaming consoles.
I have just moved into a new house & signed up for virgin broadband.
I have set up the hub with no issues so now I would like to create another wired network around the house but before I go tearing up floorboards & chasing cables round the house I have noticed I have 1 of these in every room of the house see picture (apart from kitchen & bathroom)
my question is is it possible the network is already in the house & is there any way to convert an isolator cable to an RJ45 connection that would give me GB speeds around the house?
thank you for taking the time to read my post & any help would be greatly appreciated.
They are termination points for the VM coax. Each one should have a terminator installed otherwise there may be noise ingress into the system which will not only affect you, but all other users on the same street box. The cables from these boxes would go to the outside omnibox where there will be a splitter. There is a possibility that this has been removed by the previous owners. As to the Ethernet cables, best to just run some new ones, but always run two for contingency, makes life easier if one fails.
