Service installed today. Sales rep told me modem mode is now working on Hub 5x at time of sale. It is not, unless there is an update I or the significant number of waiting Hub 5x users don't know about?
What is the latest please?

The page is there but it doesn't reliably work to give out a WAN IP to the router so is not usable in the current state. Probably one reason why it's not on the menu in this firmware.
Word on the rumour mill is that the new network (nexfibre XGS-PON) doesn't allow sufficient monitoring functions when using modem mode, so a joint solution would be needed there too. I'm not sure how true that is. I don't care about support/monitoring really and would happily agree some exception to enable modem mode or re-enable router mode if I'm contacting support or before for troubleshooting.
If the DHCP response was documented, would it be possible to manually configure the WAN side of the a Router for use with a Hub 5x in Modem mode ?
Connect your own router to one of the 1Gb port (1-3) whilst having the fibre and power also connected but no other ethernet or wireless clients
via your own router LAN side access the VM Hub (the reason for this is the hub only sees the WAN MAC address of your router and no others)
now factory reset the Hub
once the Hub has rebooted browse to http://192.168.0.1 and configure the password for it, once you are on the standard status page access http://192.168.0.1/?page=modemmode and enable it.
the Hub should reboot and assign your device an IP if it does not try and power cycle your device. it can take several minutes to assign so be patient.

Not having a 5x to play with, can you please tell me whether the settings allow you to turn DHCP and WiFi off on the Hub? That would be an alternative to modem mode. If you're in the mood, we'd all like to see screen shots of the settings options available to you on the 5x.

Easy now, we are all very interested to see a Hub 5x documented as working in modem mode and if it has been mastered as suggested, the steps can be followed by others with a Hub 5x, to see if they too can successfully follow in the same ice breaking foot steps ...

I don't see why you'd place the Hub 5X in a DMZ when you can connect your router to the hub in a LAN to LAN connection and get the benefit of WiFi from both the hub and your router.
And then one night VM sends out a Hub 5x firmware update...
Maybe I’ve missed something, but if you can turn DHCP & WiFi off, also DMZ & Firewall, don’t you have an effective modem mode? And that under any firmware version.

It's double NAT but with only one LAN IP from the Hub.
Not that I have needed to use it, but I have read my UDM Pro router has facilities to overcome double NAT. If you want to read about it look for SNAT/DNAT.
