It might be a hub 3 unless you have Gig1 which requires a hub 4 or a hub 5.

Even though they’re offering Hub 3 customers a free Hub 5?

Yes. At the moment it is by invite only. There have been supply & demand problems with new hubs before which I am sure VM are keen to avoid this time round.

If they have hub 5 in stock likely it be a hub 5.

If VM still has hub 3s in stock you might be given one.

So you want a Hub 5 but don't bother to say why !
Have you paid any attention to the current hub 5 Software version being quite a disaster that repeatedly suffers loss of Wi-Fi and DHCP failures. Time to a fix ... is open ended.
Plus the Hub 5 has Wi-Fi 6 on both bands giving the worst compatibility imaginable for single band 2.4GHz IoTs and CCTV kit and Wi-Fi Printers.
Take care what you ask for ...- ashscrivens1Dialled in
Because my parents moved from a hub3 to hub5 and saw much better WiFi ping performance.
Didn’t really ask for opinions on all that, just wanted to know if it’s now the standard hub.

I assume you have done your due diligence on other providers. I simply can't recommend going with VM.
