Hub 3 Alternative / Upgrade

Hi, firstly I would like to say that i am a novice when it comes to tech like this so if any answers could be dumbed down as much as possible that'd be great.

I'm having problems with my Hub3. It's an intermittent problem but still very annoying. I was wondering if there was an alternative I could purchase which would be an upgrade on my current equipment. I've contacted VM but they're more interested in selling me 1gb broadband which comes with a new router. I don't need 1gb just a router that doesn't drop signal.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  

Budget £50ish

    You need to fully describe the intermittent problem.

    With VM you will always have to use the hub but some users link it up to their own better router. But there is no point in doing that until the underlying issue is resolved.

      As has been asked...

      ....are your issues only evident on wifi connections or do you see them at the same times on devices connected on ethernet cables? If you don't know, can you check on one to help diagnose whether it is just a wifi issue or it could be network connection/Hub related?

      Different solutions need to be applied

    The DOCSIS modems VM provide are rented. VM also works on a "closed" network, so third party DOCSIS modems will not work on their network. Any you see being sold are non-returns items that are effectively stolen. They also will not work, as once removed from VMs systems will not operate on the network. VM provide you with a modem/router capable of delivering the speeds you pay for. You can buy your own router & have the VM kit in modem mode, which will usually give better WiFi.

    More than often issues are caused by signal faults, so far better to have a technician investigate than just replace the modem only to find it is not causing the issue.
