How to set up broadband subscription with hub already set up in new apartment

I have just moved into a new apartment that already has a virgin media broadband hub. I would like to set up broadband using this hub however, I do not have a virgin media account. I have tried to create one, but it seems you cannot create one without purchasing a plan and the plans all come with new hubs to install yourself.

The one in our apartment seems to be installed into the wall. How can I set up a broadband plan using this hub? I tried calling the number but you need an account number and area code, and you cannot get an account and area code without setting up a plan and ordering a new hub. It all seems a bit of a mess to be honest and I'm wondering whether I should just go with a different provider at this point.

The virtual chat has not helped at all and the Whatsapp number doesn't reply so I'm stuck.

A photo showing this "built in Hub" would be helpful.  It's something I've never heard of before.  If it is a Hub, VM will want the previous owner to return it as it is rented equipment.

Is this a new build apartment where the hub was already fitted when you moved in as the first occupier?

Or do you mean you have taken over an existing property and the previous occupier left the hub behind?

Have you tried the sales number 0800 183 1234?

Thank you! I was desperate to actually speak with someone so this is perfect.

Thanks for your post on our Community Forums GraceSinnott, and a very warm welcome to you!

If you're able to call our Sales Team on 0800 183 1234, they will be able to set you up with your own account, with their completing of the administration of the account you have been connecting to, which would be a case of closing the account down and requesting the hub to be returned to Virgin Media.

        Thanks,

You will first of all have to place a definite order, and then you will be sent a Hub. And a TV box if you order it.  VM have a rigid system that doesn't allow for special arrangements.

The existing box left behind will be charged to the customer who didn't return it.
