Do Virgin offer a service to move your router port to another location in the home?

Hello all.

I’ve recently invested in a TP-Link AXE5400 tri-band router to boost my WI-Fi around our 3 bed house, and in particular my gaming set up. My Virgin hub 4 is now in modem mode.

Unfortunately this hasn’t worked out as I’d hoped. So I’m now looking at the possibility of potentially moving the Ethernet port to the spare room upstairs on the opposite side of the house. Obviously this is dependent on how much this kind of work would cost.

I’ve seen in the past Virgin would do this for you for a small fee if you are experiencing issues, so still wondering if this is the case? Any advice would be extremely helpful.

VM do not install Ethernet cables or connections. They will move your VM hub for £25, but this is possibly not what you want. Ethernet connection are easy to wire up and any electrician should be able to run an Ethernet cable for you.

Do you mean this? If so yes this is exactly what I mean. It’s currently located in the living room of the front side of the house, I’d ideally like it moved to the spare room on the back side of the house. I’m an end terrace so I’m assuming this shouldn’t be an issue?

No thats your Hub.  They will move that for you for £25.  But as Tudor replied... you said you wanted an ethernet port moved - which is a different beast altogether.

Possibly too late but - if you run ethernet cable externally, make sure it is weather resistant or in conduit. Normal ethernet cable deteriorates after a couple of years exposed to the elements.
