Constant problems with ethernet connection - New Hub

Hi All - I am still experiencing a lot of problems with 1G package.

Approx month or two ago I received new Hub5 as old one just broke down.

Things were bit better for few weeks but then recently online gamming became again - IMPOSSIBLE!!! I noticed that I am getting quite few post errors with new hub after the restart. Does this look normal?

    Very Insightful Person

Start from a clean sheet - do this..

Switch the Hub off and unplug it from the mains supply for five minutes. Whilst it's off, Do a quick check that all of your coax and ethernet cable connections are in nice and "finger" tight - at the Hub and wall box and also at any connectors etc. Disconnect all the connections and reconnect to be sure. Ensure there are no “unterminated cable loose ends. Also check that the internal wiring is ok with no kinking, chaffing or dog chews etc.
Also, check that all looks good with the outside cabling and wall box (no “staples, etc.,) piercing the cables. Then, switch the Hub back on and leave ~5 minutes When all done, check back in the settings and ensure that the RS error counts and T3 errors have all reset to 0. Then check every hour or so to see if they start reappearing - they shouldn't. If they do (particularly the postRS and T3 ones) you have a problem (noise) that only a Tech visit will sort.
Also check the Upstream QAM’s are all at 64

Report back if the errors reoccur

Van not see anything wrong with either internal or external socket to be fair. One thing that comes to mind is that external cabinet down the road with doors being always wide opened..... stats are even worst now....

Thanks for reaching out to us buchosmambo, and welcome back to our Community Forums!

Sorry to hear of the issues experienced with the connection.

I've been able to run through a flow and found no issues with the services currently present.

Have you been experiencing connection issues over the course of the weekend?

Is there currently a broadband quality monitor running on your connection at all?

      Thanks,

      David_Bn

Hi David_Bn - this is not normal at all This new Hub was ok for forts few weeks and slowly started developing the same issue as the previous one. Shortly before you responded to my message I restarted the Hub as suggested by one of the members. Since that reboot I am having large PING spikes 0 something I haven't had for a long time in BQM monitor (you can see yourself) Link to live BQM here.

Once again we are back to square one - online gaming is imposable Please dont tell me that everything is ok because its not - whatever it is that you are monitoring at your end (your system) is not showing the true reflection of this line / connection. Its not hardware issue as I upgraded to new PS5 console - it happens on ethernet connection! And dont tell me that I have to keep restarting this hub every few days because that makes no difference at all! Your cabinet (old green style) is constantly open on our street. Can you send some one to inspect the cable please because this is also affecting our working from home!!!!

The issue I am experiencing are:

    - (online gaming) extremally high ping on ethernet connection while playing on PS5

    - when working from home (google meets works very slow/ picture quality is often very poor as well as sound)

    - some days I struggle to load websites on either laptops or mobile phone browsers - sometimes they load quick and other times it takes like 30s + to load basic BBC website.

So, I decided to use different port for ethernet cable in the HUB5 and all of the sudden connection while playing online games is much more stable with much less latency spikes....Don't really know what to think about this anymore.... whether it's a Hub's port that is faulty or some other external factors such as rain that were causing these spikes....

I will monitor over next few weeks and report back....

and we are back to square 1 - games unplayable - poor performance while on work calls regardless if its Google or Teams - is just poor again! And yes - I am using WIRED connection. Latest stats below:

Hy buchosmmbo, thank you for reaching out and I am so sorry to hear you are having some connection issues.

I have run some tests and everything is looking great on our end,

As mentioned above do you have the full test via the link from Sam Knows, above? Cheers

What does IMPOSSIBLE!!! mean ... the lack of a clear description does make it impossible diagnose the issues with other that generic remarks. Especially when the HUB stats look fine.

Share a screen shot of the Full Test from this link, if possible run in the browser of the device that you have having issues with.

    https://www.samknows.com/realspeed/

Once the test begins click on: Run full test to include:
Latency, Jitter, Packet loss & Upload speed

    Problems in my case are:

    • constant lag and poor performance during calls via MS Teams as well as Google meets - this is happening during the day while I work from home.
    • High ping while playing online on PS5 which used Ethernet connection - I got hub placed literally next to my PS5. Connection improves massively after midnight (its like comparing day with night) Biggest problem is while playing FPS games - I can literally start shooting at the guy in front of me with little damage just for him to kill me with two bullets (and while watching his kill cam I can see him shooting for much longer than I saw it on my screen) In my screen I see like maybe 2 bullets and on his 20 bullets being shot in me - and this is something that I haven't see on my screen - hope this makes sense...
    • Speeds are ok  and sometimes not ok at all but thts smallest of concerns for me -  on my DELL laptop which is placed 1.5m away from Hub5 - I get often ~200 Mbps (Samknows) or ocasionally in excess of 600Mbps on Ookla (Laptop uses WIFI connection so I think it switches between the Hub and Pods and betwen 2.4G & 5G home networks through the week) On PS5 wired connection I get 800Mbps + Dowload but only 11Mbps Upload. On wifi I get ~500 Mbps and 20Mbps Up so better than Wired) On Samknows I get max speed to the router and slightly less on the laptop)  see below
    • Does post RS errors are normal be present few days after Hub restart?

      time to reinstall windows

BQM looks ok to the hub but who knows what goes on with your device to the hub and the after given router mode.

And for example if I switch connection on PS% from WIRED to WIFI and enable 5G Connection only on PS5 - playing online is much smoother, quicker, I can kill enemies much quicker, ping is lower (although it varies game to game) I wonder if there is any setting in the hub that "limits the connection on wired somehow" - every time I am on wired connection on PS5 I got restricted NAT and the only way of having it open is by enabling DMZ for PS5 IP...that changes NAT to open but game is sluggish.... will post RS errors affect gaming router if I get one?

change hub to modem mode and connect the PS5 only and see what its like or maybe get new cables

Hey butchosmambo, thank you for reaching out and I am sorry to heat you are having some issues on the PSN network.

Did you find the above helped at all?

If you are still needing some help, do let us know.

This is not related to PSN Network - Its 100% something to do with wired connection --  I tried 2 different 6e cables and it still gives me poor performance while playing online. As soon as I go WIFI on my PS5 - playing online is smooth - lag free and no problems at all! When I switch to wired connection I might as well don't bother.

I am getting new cables just to see if I am unlucky and I got two faulty consoles and two faulty cables at the moment - I will feed back.

Is it normal to have Post RS errors (Down) few days after HUB restart on channels between 19 & 28 ?

Speeds on my laptop (wired) appear to be capped at 500M - see below. I checked setting of laptop. Can not really reset windows as this is work laptop.
