Canceling within cooldown period

I've been trying to cancel my Virgin contract. I am well within the fourteen day cooloff period, have called the helpline six different times and been put on hold for 20+ minutes each time. Finally managed to speak to someone and cancel it on the sixth try, but have not received an email/notification confirming that the contract has been canceled. How can I obtain confirmation for this?

    They don't make it easy for you to cancel. The safest way is to cancel by post. Ask the post office for proof of delivery.

    Yes in writing is the best way.  Was there not a cancellation form in your quick start pack - there usually is?
