Cable installation..

 Hello

The engineers arrived yesterday to complete ground works on my property prior to full installation.

It looks like they've gone across the garden from their "fibre point" at the front on the pavement.

We're redeveloping the front in the summer and wanted to ask how far has the cable gone down? I thought they'd use the existing BT ducting and this was only done with the old coaxial connection so is this looking normal?

I've no problem with the turf! That'll grow back in no time.

Many thanks!

  • If the old connection was coaxial, so will the new. VM are not retrofitting HFC with Fibre XGS-PON anywhere yet. Coax will block BT ducts, as they are too small. Install will only be down about 6 inches.

  • Also although my daughter says they drilled something, I see no new box in front of the house. There is an existing BT white box there though.. Help?

  • Thanks, my handler seems to think they may have removed the old BT duct..

    Jury's out I guess.

  • Update..

So I got home and I have the Virgin media brown box at the side of the porch, from there, they've rightly gone under the driveway bricks then they've gone across the garden turf in the pics I sent, it's a predominantly black with green cable. It's fine as I know it's there, but it's about 3 inches deep so we'd need to exercise some caution if doing any garden remodelling. Thanks
