192.168.0.99 is not a valid IP address

Hi all,

Trying to add my first rule on my Hub 4.
I am trying to redirect traffic to a device in my network 192.168.0.99

In doing so, it tells me it is an invalid address? and so I cannot add the rule?

Why would it think this?

that IP address is internal and relates to a device registered by your router to a comp/tablet/phone within your household

if you do/have not reached that many devices then if will not find it

you need to open the network settings on the device you want to reach to find its 192...........xx id

only reached about 40 on mine since 2009

  • for the device your trying to forward to you need its IPV4 address that was assigned by your router, unlikely tobe 99

  • you need to find the IPV4 address on the device your trying to forward too

I KNOW what the ip address is. That is why is is a static address, so any forwarding always works.
That is the whole point. 😞
I have been with NTL/Virging for over 24 years. hell I even worked for them twice. 🙂

Until this hub came, I always used my own routers and left the virgin device in modem mode.
However my laptop which is my main computer can use 5G and it is blindingly fast, so I changed my network over to 0., where before it was 2. as I started with Belkin routers.

So put a static IP at the end of the DHCP range if you don't want a new router

      What difference would that make?
It appears to forward to a port, it HAS to be within DHCP range?

I have worked around the issue now anyway.

I don’t use VM hubs as DHCP servers, but in my router a port forward has to be outside the DHCP Range or a reserved/preferred address within the DHCP range.
