wireless?

I have a Tivo box upstairs and a v6 box down stairs.  I want the move the TV to the opposite wall in the front room.  short of running a cable from the box and round a door frame and then up a wall is there any way of doing this wirelessly.  Moving the VM connection out side would really help as would still have to go round a door and up the wall.

Are there any wireless boxes from VM.

Do 360 support this?  Is 360 worth upgrading too?

Back to basics here - TV360 is an alternative software platform, but the connectivity is exactly the same as the existing V6.

Both TiVo & V6 boxes run TiVo-software, a V6 uses the same hardware as a TV360 but the latter runs Horizon software which is very different. What you're asking about is connectivity, so a TV360 vs TiVo/V6 discussion is a major red herring and unnecessary complication.

TiVo, V6 & TV360 boxes all require a co-ax connection for the live broadcast TV feed, and allow recording of live channels. The internet connection is used for OnDemand, streaming & various updates - TiVo uses the coax, V6 & TV360 connect separately to your home-hub, ideally via Ethernet but potentially via wireless.

VM offer the Stream boxes which happen to use the same Horizon-software as TV360, but more importantly are fundamentally non-recording boxes. Therefore a very different beast.

      Hi damian_burrin

      Welcome to the Community Forums.

As japitts has kindly advised, you would need cabling for this setup you're requesting to be able to access live TV. The set-top boxes can communicate wirelessly with features such as multi-room and access to streaming apps/OnDemand.

If you need to relocate equipment, then we can arrange for an engineer to look into this request and rewire the home internally. This request is chargeable at the standard call-out charge of £25.

  • You could use an "hdmi wireless link" from the TV Box to the TV, but then the TV Box would still be in it's original location !!     Not an issue if you're using the wireless remote, but IR line-of-sight challenge for the older DogBone IR remotes.     (Note: the V6 hardware is the same as the 360, so you can pair with the newer RF remotes)

Easiest solution is to use a Stream Box for the re-located TV.
