V6 box lost power

I've had a V6 for a long time, over the last few months it occasionally loses power, sometimes for up to 24 hours. I have tried different power outlets and tried the power cable from another room with no luck. I have contacted Virgin on several times, all they can offer me is an engineer call out but have warned me that if the engineer finds no fault I will be charged £25 for a wasted call out. I've had to cancel 3 call outs as power has been restored before the engineer comes. Is it possible to just get a new V6 box and power cable without going through this process

Is the power cable an extension lead or another cable that plugs into the mains socket to the 360 power supply.

If you have replaced the power cable and the V6 is still losing power (no light at all) then you either need a replacement power supply or a replacement box, if you have 2 boxes you could swap the power supply or wait here for one of the forum team to respond but I think you might need an engineer visit if you can't get a replacement power supply sent out to prove the fault.

I have already tried swapping power cables from our other box. And no, its not in an extension lead and have tried other sockets. As stated, I have booked engineer visits, but as the power restores itself within 24h, the engineer will find no fault by the time they get here, and charge me £25 for a wasted call out

  • Hi rowell_lindsay thanks for your post here although we're sorry to hear of your concerns raised here.

We can look to have the box replaced for you given what has happened, I can note the issues which means even if the box is working then we can still get it replaced with no charge so don't worry.

Please allow me to send you a PM so expect this shortly and respond directly when you can!
    Many thanks

Thanks, I will look out for your PM. The box is back on. It went off around lunchtime, but at 7am the light was back on so it must have restored at some point between 1am and 7am, but that's atleast 12 hours without power
