UHD Not very good quality

Is my Virgin V6 Box powered by TiVo UHD ready?

I have a new Hisense UHD 4K TV now but UHD doesn't work, not very sharp.

I have a high speed HDMI cable and I've been playing around with the settings for hours.

I am in the process of upgrading to 360, when this is done will UHD work?

Thanks

  • The TiVo does not support UHD, the V6 does. It gives you the choice of outputting at 1080 or 2160, so for SD/HD channels, you can often find it's better to let your TV upscale from 1080 > 2160.

I can't comment on the TV360 as I don't use one, but I'm fairly sure there's not as many tweaks available as far as output resolution goes - specifically being able to select the exact output resolution and force 720/1080i/p if you'd prefer. Happy to be corrected on that by a TV360 user.

The official answer from Virgin Chat was

"I had a quick look on your account and I could say that once the upgrade is done to Tv360, the UHD will work without any interruptions"

      Hi Barkley1,

The 360 video settings are Automatic (sets the video out to the TV's panel native resolution), 4K, 1080p, 1080i, 720p and 576p.

The 360 has the following resolution options (listed alongside the onscreen explanations of the resolutions) :-

Automatic: The recommended setting. Your 360 will automatically select the highest supported picture quality of your TV.

4K: Use this setting if you have a 4K TV. It'll make sure that 4K content is streamed at the best picture quality.

1080p: use this setting if you have a Full HD (1080p) TV

1080i: use this setting if you have an older TV (Full HD) If you're having issues with fast moving pictures (like sports) try 720p

720p: Use this setting if you have an older TV (Full HD) or if you're having issues with fast moving pictures (Like sports)

576: Try this if none of the above settings are compatible with your TV.

That's a scripted answer if ever I saw one. There's fundamentally no difference in how TV360 handles UHD than V6 does.

The only difference is the user interface, where TV360 is "modern" and TiVo/V6 is "functional"
