TV6 box still available?

Hi,

Not sure if this is right right forum to be asking. We're thinking of moving away from Sky, and I have just placed an order with Virgin to add the TV package to our existing broadband service. However, I noticed on the confirmation that just a stream box is listed. I was told by customer services (via web chat) that this is the only product offered now and doesn't not support recording of live tv, pausing, rewind etc. Is this correct?

If so, think I'll be cancelling and remain with Sky. Shame seemed a good deal.

      Hi dandanknight

The V6 boxes havn't been available to new customers for around 2 years, that box was superceded by the TV360 box.

Around 2 months VM stopped advertising the TV360 boxes and new customers automatically receive the Stream (Flex) boxes instead.

At the time it was said that TV 360 installations would still be available by contacting one of VM's sales agents, but it would incur an activation fee of £49.95  -  you would need to call the Sales Team on 0800 183 1234 to see if this is still the case.

Please note if you are in VM's Full Fibre (XGS PON) network area which currently offers speeds up to 2Gbps symmetrically then only the newer IP based Stream boxes are available  as VM's recordable TV set top boxes only work on the older DOCSIS network which uses coaxial copper cables.

        Hi newapollo,

I'd also like to upgrade to include TV with a 360box.  Is there any way I can check if I'm on the DOCSIS network (I've had Blueyonder broadband since, well, since Blueyonder was still a thing)?  My landline stopped worked a few months ago and VM sent me an adapter so it now plugs directly into the hub, if that means anything?

Many thanks if you can help.

  • Thanks both, that's very useful.  I've got coax going into a Hub 4 so guess I'll be OK :)
