TV guide (V/M box)

For some days, when calling up the TV guide, most, but not all, programmes are shown as “To be announced”. When going through the checking procedure, the screen says Ethanet cable not connected Code N27      This is not true.  Everything is working and I can get TV, Broadband and house telephone without  problem.  Where a channel shows “To be announced”, if I simply click on that channel the programme screens as normal.  Is anyone else showing this fault - I am in Leicestershire in the LE18 2BZ postcode area.  Comments would be appreciated.

    Hi Bertram

The live TV programs are carried over the VM coaxial cable and not over the internet.

N27 means the box can't connect to wifi (not an ethernet connection) You should be able to create a wifi connection if you remove the ethernet cable from the back of the V6

    https://www.virginmedia.com/help/check/tv-error-codes/n27/start

Have you double checked that the ethernet cable is still tightly connected and hasn't worked loose (either in the hub or the V6 box)?

Have you tried a different ethernet cable or ethernet socket?

The V6 'calls home' by electronically speaking to the local headend (VM system) around once every 6 hours and then updates the EPG (programme guide)

You find that information under Home > Help & Settings > Settings > Network > View network status which should tell you about regular successes or failures.

Within that section (Home > Help & Settings > Settings > Network ) you can also try Connect to the Virgin Media TV service now

I have never used an Ethernet cable between my hub and TV bo - they are at opposite ends of the house to each other.  When I activated my new V6 box, I forgot I have recently replaced the hub.  I entered the new hub Wi-Fi passcode, selected connection via Wi-Fi and the box now works as it should.

      Thanks for responding.

Are both the hub and the TV box on the same electrical circuit? If they are then you could use powerline adapters, with Ethernet cables from them going to the TV box and the hub.

To avoid doubt, can you use OnDemand or streaming apps? Those use the V6's internet connection in the same way that EPG updates do.
