No sound

When I got back from work at 22.00 hrs today my V6 was working fine but there was no sound, I tried rebooting the V6 but no joy, I also switched everything off at the mains still no success. When watching on terrestrial TV the sound is working fine but when I switch to V6 nothing. Can anyone recommend what I can do to rectify the issue, thanks  in advance

Does the lack of sound affect all video sources? So... live TV? OnDemand? Recordings? Streaming apps?

When you refer to terrestrial TV, do you mean (as many might) the FTA channels via your VM box? Or do you mean (as I suspect you intend) watching via other means than your VM box?

  • Hi Japitts, Yes there is no sound when I try to watch any program via my V6 box, including streaming, but on Digital TV (FTA) there is no problem

      Hi bookworm441

Is you V6 connected directly to the TV for sound, or are you using a soundbar/amplifier?

Have you tried a different HDMI cable?

Around 5 years ago I had a problem with having no sound on my V6.  Rebooting didn't work, nor did trying a different HDMI cable.

I did fix it in the end though, and oddly it was all due to my cabling.  It's like spaghetti junction behind my TV, so I thought this is going to take a tech visit, I'de better tidy everything up. I removed all devices from the mains (TV, V6, Firestick and Switch games console) and also removed all ethernet cables, HDMI cables etc. Once everything was nice and tidy, free from any kinks etc I switched on and the sound was back. Mind you I was cream-crackered lol

      Hi bookworm441 👋.

Thanks for reaching out to us, sorry to hear of the issues that you have been facing with your V6 box. Can we ask if you have any soundbars connected to the V6 box or the TV and are powered on and the volume turned to a level to hear. Or have you tried an alternative HDMI lead and checked the settings on the V6 box and TV to ensure they are not set up for an alternative audio input/output?

Please let us know so we can go forward with further assistance.

      Sabrina

  • Just to let you know I booked an engineer visit for Saturday and just before they were due to arrive I checked and the sound was back so cancelled  the appointment.I did not do anything to and am still at a loss as to why this happened. Thanks to all who offered help and advice.
