New set top box

As per article I've read today that virgin are moving away from QAM broadcast to IP and also implementing a smaller set top box that won't have a hard drive later this year when will this be available, is this just refering to virgin stream that's already available or something else, also with it cloud recording done then habe to pay a tier system per storage capacity

As per article

"Later this year Virgin will complete the move from QAM broadcast to IP transmission, bringing in small form factor setup boxes, with bookmarking in the cloud replacing hard drives. Bouchier says the big change will come in the install experience. “There is no longer a need to have that cable running around the house if you want more than one set top box. It allows us to be as kind of nimble as the S watts themselves and connect to a TV wherever it is in the home using again a great install experience that we have with Virgin Media where our engineers will ensure that your broadband travels around the home.”

The IP driven Stream or Flex box is already an option on both the DOCSIS & the latest Full Fibre XGS-PON networks. These boxes can also be taken as multiroom boxes alongside an existing V360 DVB-C broadcast receiver on the DOCSIS network. The DOCSIS network is still likely to continue for some time, with a gradual migration to XGS-PON for the higher speed tiers first.

As with Sky’s IP offerings, catch-up options will vary by broadcaster, with some allowing cloud storage & some forcing viewers onto streaming services with imposed advertising
