Issue with my V6 box

Hi again,

I’ve had a few issues with my V6 box over the past few days. Over the weekend, I noticed it was resetting connections with a bit of an audible buzzing sound. I let it run its course, and despite the buzzing continuing thought nothing of it.

Last night, however, I noticed that the box was on without me even switching it on. I turned on my TV to see what was going on, and it was booting and rebooting for about half an hour. After a while the power LED turned blue and it reset. It has now reverted to factory settings, wiped the hard drive of recordings, and it can’t connect to the TV control app.

Is this a sign that my box needs to be replaced?

Kind regards, and thanks in advance,

John H

Sounds like the hard drive is possibly on the way out.  Time for a replacement.

However, you may be offered an "upgrade" to the 360.  Think very carefully about this one and read all the cons and pros before deciding.  It's a one way street and you can't go back.  If there are any specific Tivo features you like, these will not be available on the 360 due to licencing issues.  It is the licences that VM save money on by changing you to a 360.

The weird thing is I actually have 2 V6 boxes in my household. Also, the issue may be connected to a power outage in my area on Friday that required a significant fix.

The "broadband connection issues" is a funny one. I get the exact same, and have no service issues. I've seen a few other posts reporting very similar, and I don't think I've yet seen a good explanation for it.

I really don't know what's going on with Virgin Media today - just checked service status and it seems to be checking the service in a different postcode to my own

Report it as a fault. Avoid CS who will try to downgrade you to 360. Faults will just try and restore the status quo.
