TV360 with a Tivo

Hi

I have an old Tivo box. I have resisted the change to V6 as my router is in a different room and it would mean running a cat5 cable under the floor (and taking up some laminate flooring to do so)I just signed up for a package with all the Sky Sports channels, mainly to watch the Rugby League. They are moving to Sky Sports + for some of the games ,(currently showing all games on the main channels). I understand I'm not getting this on my old box. There's loads of reasons not to move the router. I recently invested in an Eero mesh system and my WiFi is pretty good. What sort of speeds would I need to just run TV360 from WiFi? If I have to run the cable, I suppose I'll have to, but it would be good to avoid it

  • Both the V6 and the 360 can work over WiFi, so your mesh system will be more than enough to provide them with the connectivity they need!  They both still get their live TV channels via the white coaxial cable that already feeds your TiVo box.

Have you been contacted about upgrading to 360 yet?

      Thanks for the reply.

I haven't been contacted about an upgrade yet. In fact I only realised it was an option once I found out I couldn't access Sky Sports +. What triggers the email?

  • Can I just check my understanding on this before taking it further?  If I upgrade to TV360, all my current channels (including my regular Sky Sports package) are via the coaxial cable.  The only thing that I would be streaming via my wifi would be the Sky Sports +.  Is that right?

      Hi TonyM19

All of your current channels (including the regular Sky Sports package) would be fed through the coaxial cable the same as they are at present.

If you currently use the apps, on demand, or catch up services on your tivo box then they are being streamed, and would continue to be streamed on the TV360 box.

The Sky Sports Arena has been replaced today by the Sky Sports + channel and you will be able  to view that on  channel 508 whether or not you migrate to the TV360 box.

You will though need the 360 box if you want to watch the additional Rugby League games that are streamed through the red button on your TV.

If you have an ios or android tablet or mobile then you can also download the Sky Sports app and log on using your VM credentials to watch the additional red button content on those devices.

There's more information about Sky Sports + on < this TV Edit >  page.

EDIT - Just a heads up, you can continue to record programs from the normal channel, however you can't record anything thats on the red button because it's streamed.

The Super League game between St Helens and Salford is on Sky Sports + tonight on channel 508. (It isn't being streamed) so you can watch that game on your tivo.

There are two Super League games tomorrow night Huddersfield v Catalans and Hull KR v Castleford.   They are both being streamed on the red button so if you want to watch either game you will need to use the sky Sports app on a mobile or tablet.

        Thank you

That's very helpful. I'm assuming that I couldn't then cast from the Sky Sports app via a Chromecast?

I can cast the games from the Our League app, but there's an additional payment for this.
