TV360 standby mode

Is there a way to disable it completely?

If I don't use it for a while it switches off and the power light goes red. I turn my TV on and it says no input so have to remember to switch it on each time. If it turned on when the TV did, that'd be great! But it doesn't so it's just plain annoying now.

I've already set my boxes to fast start.

Any help appreciated.

  • You can't turn it off completely but you can set how long before it goes into standby.

If you go to Settings > System > Standby time, you can change between 4, 5, 6 or 24 hours before the 360 is put into standby when there is no interaction with it.

If the 360 remote is paired to your TV it should turn on the 360 and TV when you press the red power button if one power is set to on, also in the System settings. Pressing the white power button will just turn your TV on and off.

  • Is that going to change at all? It's bizarre that it can't be turned off at all.

My kids watch the TV mostly so it's set to the same channel all the time. If we don't change the channel that day, the next day, the box turns itself off.

Its a small inconvenience, yes. But one that wasn't there with the old V6 system. This definitely feels like a step backwards.

      Hi MrMoMo,

Thank you for your post, welcome to the Community Forums.

We're afraid as roy247 has advised, it's not possible to switch-off the auto standby feature, but we'll certainly pass on your feedback regarding this.

One of the many power saving (or should I say "Planet Saving") measures that are becoming standard fit whether we like it or not. A lot of regulations now insist on them.

24 hours without a button press isn't long enough? Surely it's turned off and on?

You should try the Sky Stream device. It turns off after ten minutes if you don't give the controller a shake.

  • The forced auto-off feature is terrible. I e missed so many planned recordings because my box has put itself into standby mode during the night.

We should be given the option on whether or not we want to save energy, after all we pay our energy bills, not VM.

There is no forced auto-off, set your box to active start and it uses not much more power and it will record when in standby mode unless you turn the box off at the plug.

Always best to leave it set to active start so the box will do any updates overnight.

Do you power off your VM hub at night?
V360 is a server driven system, so if you turn the internet off your recordings won’t work, even with the 360 box in standby.

It does not go off, it merely goes into sleep mode. Even if the red light is showing, it will (should) record scheduled recordings. If it is not doing this - there is a fault.
