Sky sports poor picture quality

My sky sports picture is shocking, whether it’s on HD or not.

I have tried upgrading HDMI and upgraded coax in the house and it hasn’t helped. I’ve rebooted the box countless times and nothing changes.

I can’t see how it’s a cable/connection issue as the other HD channels work brilliantly.

I was given another box after 2/3 weeks and this has the same repeated issue.

please help

In what way is your Sky Sports (HD?) picture "shocking" - can you elaborate?

What do you mean by upgraded coax?

Just blurry, if I watch a football game you cannot see the numbers or names on the back of the shirt, it’s that unclear.

I’ve upgraded to CT100 coax, I imagine the kit comes with just a standard RG6 digital coax.

The co-ax cable that carries live TV is specialist triple-grade and is part of VM's network. Well-intentioned DIY alterations to VM's kit can often cause unforeseen problems, both to your install and that of your neighbours.

  • Thanks for your post on our Community Forums Jackbrew4, and a very warm welcome to you!

Sorry to hear of the issues you've been experiencing with Sky Sports in HD.

Can you possibly supply us with a picture or video of the standard of picture quality you're experiencing on the set top box?

    Kindest regards,

  • The picture quality on Sky Sports, particularly for Premier League games is SD standard on the HD channels, and it's been like this for over a year.

After the Arsenal game I switched to Viaplay Sports for the Barcelona match and the picture is significantly better.

My dad has Sky and his Sky Sports channels are better than my HD channels.

UHD has been available to Sky customers for a number of years and we have gone backwards to a 2005 level picture quality.

A simple google search shows many many posts on football forums, general forums and social media saying exactly the same thing.

Agree the Sky Sports HD picture quality has been poor for a long time. The picture on skys equipment is so much better. I've come to the conclusion that Sky are providing VM with a downgraded picture as BT sports is great in HD and even better in UHD  this doesn't fair well when we are seeing reports of VM testing Sky Sports UHD. I suspect these will be on a pat with Sky HD (on a Sky box) but at another addition cost to VM users.

Hi Jackbrew4 thanks a lot for your reply.

It's hard to see exactly what you see based on the picture, obviously some quality is lost in the size of the photo provided here.

Have things been resolved since your post on this matter?

        Many thanks
