Sky Sports+ channels not playing

I’m accessing Sky Sports + via red button. I’ve noticed that the ‘popular’ events won’t stream. I just get the spinny thing. So premier football matches and F1 just buffer constantly and won’t display but less popular events such as lower league football stream without issues. I’ve phoned today and nothing is wrong with my system. It seems that virgin are not getting the bandwidth they need from sky to stream popular games. Anyone else getting this and is it going to be addressed soon?

Sure. On Saturday I could not watch F1 qualifying as it was buffering. Also on Saturday I could not get QPR v Plymouth or Bristol City v Coventry to load, which were the 2 matches first in the line of options and were both Championship matches. For both I could get the overlays to display, but for the feed I just got a black screen and a spinning circle. I could however get all the lower league EFL matches to stream. It looks like the issue is to do with demand. The guy I spoke to on the  phone confirmed everything my end was working properly and it was an issue to do with the stream Sky are providing.

Hi Grimble2000, thank you for your posts.

We're sorry to hear about the issues you've been having 😔

The streams can be impacted by the performance of your broadband service, but if all is well on that front, it would be Sky who would be responsible for rectifying this.

        Regards,
        Daniel

  • Sorry to hear you're having issues with Sky Sports +, for balance I have to say I've had no issues what so ever.

In fact I think the service is remarkable, I believe VM's rollout has actually been smoother than Sky's bizarrely.

I hope you get to the bottom of the issues, keep us posted.

  • Don't you just love the way the forum team pass the buck.  Last time I checked we receive and purchase our services through Virgin Media,  meaning that in law they are responsible for our services and whether they work or not.

Exactly this. I’m a Virgin customer with no contract with Sky.

Hey Grimble2000, thank you for reaching out and I am sorry to hear this.

How has this been, or are you still getting the same issue?

This issue shows no sign of rectifying. Anything popular on skysports+ will not load. What’s the plan?

      Hi Grimble2000

Is your 360 box connected directly to the VM hub by ethernet cable, or are you using an extender or a booster?  Or is it a wifi connection?

What's the signal like on your 360 box? To check the network settings on your 360 box. Go to Settings > System > Change connection type.   This setting should state if you are connected by ethernet cable, or wifi, and provides the option to press OK should you wish to change connection type from there.

Below that is the Diagnostics setting  which provides a visual representation of your connection status, signal quality and further down the connection speed.  This should show any issues within your setup to the 360 box.

Hi there. I have a direct ethernet connection and my settings are exactly as shown in the photos.
