Returning 360 mini box?

We recently replaced an old Tivo with a 360 mini (we have a V6 box in another room).  We had it for a week, but ended up getting the mini replaced with a V6 box.  Now we have the two V6 (360) boxes being used, but the mini is only a week old and is sat in a box.  We don't know what to do with it.

Will VM arrange a collection?  We have the cardboard box, unused cables, and a new unused V6 remote here with the almost unused 360 Mini-box.

Surely they don't want us to throw them in a skip?

All VM kit is "rented" so it will need to be returned.  Either chase CS for a returns package, or print the label yourself - https://www.yodel.co.uk/returns/virgin

I'm surprised the engineer didn't take the mini back when they replaced it with another V6 box.  Also I thought you could only have 1 360 Master and 1 mini box when using the 360 platform?

First off you can't mix V6 & TV360 on the same account, converted V6 become TV360-master, not "V6 with 360" or similar!

A new TV360 install has one master and additional minis. If a single home converts multiple V6, then they retain multiple TV360-masters. If any of those masters subsequently gets replaced for any reason, they will be replaced with minis and lose the HDD.

  • Thanks, I'll try the Yodel return form.
We had a lot of problems with the mini box.  First it wouldn't connect to our account, then after a week that was sorted, but then it wouldn't play any recorded TV, and 95% of the time it wouldn't let you even set a recording.  It just said it couldn't connect to the other box (the V6).
We complained, and they replaced the mini with a V6, which is much better as we how have our own recording on each box instead of the insane way the mini box was sharing everyone's recordings with everyone else.

You are confused between V6 (which run TiVo-firmware) & TV360-masters (which run Horion-firmware) - if a V6 has been converted to TV360, it's no longer a V6 and doesn't run TiVo-software anymore. Otherwise it's a bit like saying "Windows laptop running Linux"

The "insane way" that you refer to, is how Horizon-software has been designed, and thus how TV360 is meant to work.

Anyone who converts multiple V6 into TV360-masters retains the HDD storage for as long as the additional masters work. If any of them are subsequently replaced, they will lose their HDD and become minis. That's by design and policy - anyone who manages to retain master boxes in this scenario is lucky.
