There's nothing different about how BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, C4 or C5 are carried compared with any other TV channel, pay or otherwise.
TV360 gets its linear broadcast channels over the co-ax feed, not the internet - so this should not have presented a problem. Did you get any specific error messages?
There can often be issues with TV360 boxes accessing recordings during an internet outage, due to how the indexing is remotely managed,

The TV 360 box showed a message that I should still be able to watch TV channels.
"Should", not "will". It depends on the type of outage. The message is a standard response by the box to loss of connection with the server. The server has no connection with the linear broadcast channels that are sent down the cable separately. A fault or power failure at a street fibre node, or even an amplifier in a local distribution cabinet will take ALL the services out.

This is a sensible reply. Thanks.
I read the message from the 360 box that I should be able to watch TV, but the fact was I could not. So I thought I come here for advice. Thanks for the useful explanation.

When broadband goes down I've found a large message keeps coming up about it no matter how often you dismiss it. This effectively makes live TV unwatchable and is the single biggest disadvantage of the 360. Now I don't mind this message coming up only once, but I've no faith that VM is bothered about it and thus pressure its Liberty Global master to do something about it.

What's the large message? When ours was down last October we only got a large message on BBC channels which was cleared by pausing for a brief moment.

I get this message which, oddly, seems to appear only on BBC channels.
