Issues with additional box post 360 upgrade

Although not impressed with the features of this upgrade, I’m stuck with it. However, since the automatic upgrade to my bedroom additional box, I’ve had problems with transmission on my bedroom TV. The signal appears to constantly drop out whilst watching (any live program but not recordings). The drop out is only momentary but nonetheless resets my tv picture with a 1080 reception confirmation and loss of vision and sound for a second. Have powered off/on and reset but problem occurs every time!

    Hi fletch1,

Have you tried re-seating the HDMI cable, or a different HDMI cable (it should be a High Speed HDMI cable)?

Loss of picture and/or sound can happen on live TV, but it's usually experienced on apps such as Netflix, Prime and Disney + and is generally due to a difference in frame rates.

Go to Settings >Audio & Video > Match frame rate

If it's set to ON then people do see a blackout/or hear a sound drop when the 360 or HDMI reconfigures for the difference in frame rate. (This is more noticable on live TV when switching from adverts back to a program, or changing channels)

If it's set to the default (OFF) then the box just accepts the frame rate difference which isn't noticeable by most users and shouldn't blank the screen out.  (Either way try toggling this setting to see if it solves your issues)

  • Thanks for replying

This problem only started after upgrade so it’s not the cable.
    Match frame rate is OFF

  • You could try swapping the boxes around to see if the fault follows the box or stays at the location to try and isolate the problem.

Try forcing the box to 1080p operation. More than likely this was set to the auto detect setting when the firmware was migrated. I have seen similar problems reported elsewhere.

      Hi fletch1,

Thanks for your post and welcome back to our community.

We're sorry to hear about the issues you're having with the TV box since the upgrade.

Could you please let us know if you've tried all the helpful advise from newapollo in this thread including the settings option?

Please also check all connections are secure and reboot the box if you haven't already.

Please pop back to us when you can.

  • Altered settings as suggested, replaced HDMI cable. Noticed problem still occurring, now on live tv AND recordings!

Glad we've managed to get the ball rolling on this :)

  • I have replaced hdmi cable, set frame to 1080p operation and rebooted box. The problem persists and continuous. Watching via the bedroom box is now a waste of time. Sound and vision drops out at least once a minute!

Have you tried swapping the boxes around as suggested by roy247 ?

That should help determine if it's a box fault, wiring/signal fault, or TV fault.

No. Too much hassle physically relocating the boxes
