Is 360 upgrade worst ever "upgrade" and interface ever...any way to go back?

I think I have made the worst mistake ever by deciding to upgrade to the 360 software.

I have given it a couple of months now to give it a fair chance but my stance has not changed.

Is there any way to go back to the older v6 which was so much better and not bloated and slugish?

[Of course there is not, I know that]

The v6 was basic, slick and fuctional did all you needed with the press of a single button.

I did not beleive the bad reviews until it was too late, I ordered the upgrade, the remote arrived then due to the poor reviews I decided not to use it or upgrade, but then VM forced me too against my wishes one evening and I had to activate it.

Its just awful:

The colour scheme is awful

For COMMON TASKS it takes several button presses to do something that just was just one under the old software. For me to list all the recordings, under the old software it was a press of one button. Now under 360 I have to press 2 difference buttons 8 times in total!! Even if I decide to use the voice command and risk waking up my wife who is sleeping, I still have to press one button AND SAY "Recordings" which is still worst that the old system.  How on earth is this an improvement.

The remote has all these extra buttons for but missing the key ones like "recordings" and "delete".

Takes way to long for the VM box to come off standy 8 to 10 seconds as the light on the TV remote flashes....flashes some more and the LED on the VM box just remains red...still red...still red...did the button work...is it doing anything?.......oh...8 to 10 second after pressing the button its on!

When on standby the USB port (used to charge headphones and TV remote) no longer works, the VM box has to be on, so at night time when I go to bed I have to turn it on (its never turned on now prior to that...more on that later) to charge my things.

When I setup a series link there are far fewer options now

When I setup a series link if catch up or something like that is available it is listed under Recordings on the main menu (even though nothing is record yet) and no way to disable this feature like under the old software.

They stated that it could be personalised, well no you cannot I cannot change any of the dumb features, look or feel or bloating......so this an out right lie.

This is SO BAD that is nothing changes we will be leaving VM after 20+ years because it is so awful.

We have pretty much stopped using the VM Box now as it ruins the experince so much we just fire up an App on our TV instead, so really no need for Virgin Media any more to watch TV, and all I am using the VM Box now is to charge my items.

I have seen so many people moaning about this and no doubt it may lead to customers leaving, but doubt they will do anything about it.

So others take heed of this as a warning!! DO NOT UPGRADE

For Virgin and the people here...if this post does not get deleted what do you have to HONESTLY say about the 360 have you actually tried it, are you going to improve it, fix all the issues that people are not happy about?

The 360 Horizon software is used by all the Global Liberty companies, VM included.  I doubt very much if changes will be made.  It's all based around Cloud recording, so completely different to a Tivo based recorder.  Even the Cloud recording can't be used in the UK.

As for "other ISP's", they are all moving to streaming boxes, Sky included, so the days of recording programs are limited, with on demand streaming (and lots of ads!) becoming the norm.

TiVo & Horizon software is fundamentally different. TiVo (which drives both TiVo & V6 boxes) is very recording-centric with streaming added.

As mentioned, Horizon-firmware with drives TV360 is very online-centric and designed for the world which broadcasters desperately want, where recording is heavily-restricted, everything is streamed with forced adverts & you speak your instructions to the box rather than using single button presses.

You correctly advise early on in your post, that once the migration process starts, there's no stopping it.

Yes, it is the worst 'upgrade' ever, and No, there's no way back.

People seem to excuse this as its down to a change in platform - I couldn't care less about the platform - it's the UI and experience that's important and this new experience is utterly **bleep**.

Recording a football game? Forget about being able to fast forward or rewind with any accuracy. You're watching live and want to skip back to something that happened? Forget that - you need to find the recording, watch from the start and fast forward to the bit you want....

I'm gone as soon as contract is up. 20+years.
