Game of Thrones

I've been watching and enjoying this series until the last few nights and finally until tonight have had to give up. The picture keeps blanking out but the sound keeps going. Tonight it has become impossible to watch. Given how much I pay virgin (over £200 pcm) for my services I think this is a very poor deal.

Is anybody else having this problem?

  • Getting the same issue (HDMI blacks out but playback continues in the background). Have changed hdmi settings, audio settings, reset the 360 box but to no avail. 


    Season 1 was fine. Now issue with season 2. 

    Virginmedia please help. Just renewed my contract at a premium price. Not helpful when you can’t use a service you are paying for.

      Having the exact same problem. 
      unable to even watch the last season!

      virgin please sort it out as paying customers this should not occur!!!!

  • You're right Richardr1 - I'm streaming the episodes via Sky Showcase. I've got the Virgin MegaTV (used to be Maxit) and I see GoT is also available on Sky On Demand UHD with an additional subscription but locked to me.

      It is worth looking again at the thread roy247 linked to in the first reply, and seeing the posts by newapollo there today. There is certainly an issue with the 1080 version of this content, and it is at the playout end, not at your end.

    we have had the same issue when we started series 7, I tried all the tricks and even got a new HDMI cable hoping it would stop the picture jumping / going black, I have since noticed when selecting GOT below each episode it has "watch in UHD" when I selected the episode in this format the jumping stopped! we watched 2 full episodes last night with no issues so I assume this has fixed the issue at my end,

     

    hope it works for you as I know how annoying its been for us!

  • The issue we have trying to watch GOT has nothing to do with LG tv's as ours is a Toshiba. Virgin media engineer has been out tonight, changed our box & all associated cables. The result? No change, screen freezes every few seconds, after around 10 mins the screen freezes permanently until virgin is disconnected at the mains.

  • Has there been any update on issues here? Had been watching GOT via Sky Showcase on Virgin TV 360 and had been fine 2 weeks ago started watching Series 2 Ep 3 and the brightness is all over the place constantly. I tried turning off all Auto settings on TV as thought it might have been my Samsung TV but the episode still did it. So I adjusted the settings of the Virgin box and no fix either here. Streamed other episodes and the brightness and colour gradients are all over the place as well.  Watching Netflix, Disney etc and normal TV channels are fine however.

    I today thought Ill check via the TVgo app to see if it is an issue in the episodes thenselves. And watching through the same episode all is fine via the TVgo app on my PC. So the issue is to do with the TVbox or an update that has been pushed to the TV boxes since. 

    Please fix as it makes viewing via the TV the main way I enjoy content unwatchable.
