Cable connection to Minibox

I currently have have a 360 box and my contract is ending and we are considering staying but we need to get a mini box as not having the multi room is an issue for us.

The issue we have is that we can't have surface cabling and our walls are brick so the only option for cabling is to run it below the floor in our basement, however Virgin engineers won't go into the basement to cable this despite the fact you can stand in most of it.

Does anyone know what cable is used from the 360 box to the mini box so I can run the cable myself?

Hey! This may help you. If you have a decent internet connection now, you can take 360 and stream at the same time. so a non-cabled box downstairs. This is very recent, but helped me the other day 🙂

Does this work for live TV like sky sports etc as if not, the stream wouldn't be suitable

Yes. It works for live channels as well as having access to the recordings on your V360 main box.

We cannot drill the walls, nor do I want cables coming through the walls at random points.

Perhaps you can go down the basement and the technician csn pass you the cable down

Unfortunately the last technician verbally refused to do that so doing the information gathering now

  • If you only want to run the cable through the basement and then up into another room you could install some trunking and a pull cord in to where you want the cable wall box connection to be.

I take it that the cable couldn't be split at the external omnibox and run round the side of the house to the room you want the mini box, this would be the usual way.

Technically it could be split but I can't have them drill through the external wall at a different location from where is comes in.

I already run a Cat6 in the basement from the virgin router to my own router as I find virgins terrible so it's easy to run via the basement.

Can you install a pull cord as previously suggested.
