Apple TV Odd Behaviour

Evening,

I’m 360 box user, converted on box from an old v6 box, and very much enjoy the switch. One benefit has been the Apple TV app, which I’ve been using regularly.

However, booting it up this evening, rather than the app launching to its navigation menu, it launched straight into Apple TV show trailers (e.g. Christmas Car Pool Karaoke), but not just one, like several one after the other. I didn’t stop to see how many it played in a row, as by the sixth or seventh I was very bored. Also, during this, no controller buttons worked, aside from those that take you back to the 360 menus (at which point going back to the Apple TV app just started the cycle again, starting with Car Pool Karaoke every time…).

Thinking creatively I did have the show I’m watching in my 360 Watchlist, and navigating via that menu did launch the Apple app into playing that show correctly. However, on that show finishing, instead of returning to the menu, the app autoplay launched back into (this time different) trailers. Again no buttons worked to prevent this happening or allow another choice.

This is a very new problem. Presumably there’s been an update to that app, which really doesn’t work. Everything else on the 360 seems to work fine.

This isn’t going to ruin Christmas, but does make show discovery on Apple TV+ hard. Please can someone look into this and potentially regress the update back to the prior version?!

  • Hello johnwilko,

Thank you for your post and welcome to our community 😀

When Apple TV launches straight into show trailers there should be an option on the top left hand of your screen to press 'back' to get to the main menu during the trailers, and once you press that you can get out of the series of trailers. Once this is done, you should be able to interrupt the trailers on subsequent app opens using the down button.

We hope this information helps and please let us know if you require any further assistance.
